Ok I would like to say that you have completely mixed up this movie with ´Troy´.
I watched this movie and although some parts were completely different from the story line (Hector´s death wasn´t quite like that) I thought that it really finally showed what the Trojans went through.
And although I love Orli Bloom and Eric Bana and think that Peter O´toole is a great actor, they do sort of portray Paris as a scapegoat of the war...

The recent movie "Helen of Troy" was excellent. It was a great movie finally told from the Trojan side. Prior to seeing this movie, I had only seen the legend told from the Greek side. I was glad the movie also showed the choice young Paris has between the three Greek Goddesses, and how Aphrodite´s first connected Paris and Helen in a live vision they both experienced. I´m glad the movie showed how Agamemnon was really motivated to war against Troy over economic reasons. Additionally I like how Paris visited Helen in spirit after his death to reassure her they would happily be together after death.

Awesome movie, but throughout the whole movie, couldn´t help but notice the blonde hair and blue eyes of all the actors!!!! Mediterranean people are dark haired and skinned, and in those days were probably all not as well groomed as the clean cut Hollywood version of Achilles.
Good fun though, but typical Hollywood BS.

I was not happy with the movie since it did not represent the real epic story. The director did not represent the real ancient Greece in this movie, for one he had ancient Greek soldiers mentioning a Spanish word, this is unheard of, for two the Trojan temple looked Egyptian, something ridiculous since the temples in ancient Greece and Troy never looked Egyptian and lastly he had belly dancers in ancient Greece, that was the most ridiculous of them all since belly dancers never existed in ancient Greece, they do not belong to the ancient Greek nor the Greek culture. Perhaps a Greek historian could have been a reliable source for the director in order to represent the real thing. I hope the director does not make similar mistakes in future movies, like having a Roman dressed as an ancient Egyptian.

It´s not out yet where I live, but I can hardly wait to go see it. For Iora, yeah, perhaps Hollywood IS trying to Anglocise us all, but that´s what they´re looking to do. Most producers don´t care about ethnicity in the film industry. They want stars who will get people to go see their movie; and quite frankly, Orlando Bloom and Brad Pitt could get me to a theater quicker than somebody who actually LOOKS like they are from Greece or wherever this movie is supposed to take place. So if you want grittier, good stuff, go to an independant film festival; they´ve got some good stuff.

Hollywood producers fail to realise their are many ethnic faces. Civilized society started in the Mediterranean and the middle east, not in England or the United States. Why cant film makers who produce films about the Holy Land cast actors who fit the physical description of the inhabidants of that part of the world. Many Greek, Latin or Italian actors who ethnic features should be cast in these pictures. Perhaps American Hollywood producers are trying to Anglocise us all.
