Ayahuasca is actually a concotion of several ingredients, such as Peganum Harmala (to make certain other agents active). But first and foremost, an extract from plants such as Phalaris or Mimosa Hostilis root barch, with the common agent of N,N-Dimethyltryptamine as purpose in the mixture.
N,N-DMT being more or less the most powerful psychoactive known to man at this day and age, you were probably a bit more on point than you aimed for with the peyote comparison.
Either way, without getting further technical, it was a frightingly accurate depiction.

this movie was astounding. the dmt/yage inspired visuals were beautiful and eerily accurate. definately a must see if you´ve ever wondered what the neuro-chemical effects of dying are like.

I watched this movie few days ago with my friends. I loved it, it sucked me right into the mysterious world of shaman treatments and nature. I think this movie is hundred thousand times better in a small high.. Well I don´t have anything to compare with.. But wow what an experience, we were pretty stunned after those mindexplodingpsychedelicminwarp scenes, just great. They hit me right into the brain.
First I was like , then I was like , .
But if you scare the hand of the law so much that you can´t smoke a little joint before the film, then I don´t know what you get out of this movie .

I just saw the movie, and I must say that I was really overwhelmed by the powerfull screenshots and the beautifull movements of the camera. I must admit that there´s one problem, the viewer is not properly led to the point, is easily confused, maybe because the director wanted to incorporate the main character and the story, at the same time sharing his shamanic experiences. At some point you understand clearly that the western genre is just to put you in the proper setting and time frame, thus were the spiritual journey begins (at the half of the movie).
However I loved the special effects used to get you involved in their spiritual experiences...the way that some actions are paralely shown was quite good too...excellent casting, and again a superb director of photography.
Two tumbs up!

it´s difficult for you all to understand that movie. It´s a movie with a shamanistic treatment. The director have stayed 4 years in amazonia, with a shaman called kestenbetsa. He have experiment 100 shamanics sessions, with a master plant called Ayahuasca (a psychotrope more powerfull than peyotl). He have explore himself, and other realities. The movie is more inspired of the director´s (jan kounen) experiences than the comics of the same name. It ´s a very mystic movie. And i perfectly understand that all of you have past beside it.
If u can try to read a book of Carlos Castaneda, or Jeremy Narby, or a book of psychology, just try it, the film is complex, it is not a bad movie. But it is difficult to enter in it.

This film was absolutely rubbish. I feel asleep it was so boring. Don´t waste your time! This is the worst film I have ever been misfortunate enough to view. Why I didn´t leave the cinema is beyond me. Dreadful acting. TRULY AWFUL MOVIE.
